Digital Switch

Industrial sensors and switches, sometimes referred to as transducers, installed in the factory automation space can provide essential machine feedback. They can monitor On/Off status, confirm operation within an optimal range, or measure real time operation e.g. pressure or flow. Industrial sensors and switches can connect to a PLC or other central controller via fieldbus or IO link to enhance troubleshooting by decreasing diagnostic time. Sensors can also become the data source for providing better predictive analytics integral to Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) or Industry 4.0, all while potentially increasing worker safety.

SMC’s pressure sensors (ISE/ZSE) will provide a setpoint-trip signal if a minimum or maximum pressure threshold is broken. The ITV Series electro-pneumatic (E/P) regulator will control air/vacuum pressure steplessly in proportion to an electric signal. PF Series flow sensors will monitor flow rate of air, cooling or cleaning water.

  • 2) Vacuum/ Compound Pressure Sensors

  • 3) Air Flow Sensors

  • Air flow sensors provide instantaneous flow information for the compressed air supply of your applications. Sensors may have integrated displays, or remote units with separate ouput monitors. Displays may be mult-line and multi-color, offering more information with better visibility. Digital and analog outputs characterize operational conditions in useful ways. Features include multiple flow ranges, enclosure ratings up to IP65, and IO-Link capability.

    • Air flow sensors to be installed in distant or confined spaces, with analog outputs for a sensor monitor or the HMI.

  • 4) Liquid Flow Devices

  • Liquid flow devices include instantaneous flow sensors, mechanical flow switches giving an ouput signal at a set point, and a flow controller for supply stability. Sensors within the collection are optimized for a variety of conditions, including compatibility with water, coolant, or chemicals; detection method; space constraints; and manifold configuration. Outputs range from simle ON/OFF confirmation signals, mA or V analog, or digital IO-Link. Review the categories to select a product best suited for your application.

    • Sensors
    • Flow sensors provide instantaneous flow readings. Sensors can be discrete or configured into a manifold, with integrated displays or remote and paired with a monitor display to mount in the panel.

    • Diaphragm Switch
    • IFW is a mechanical switch for the detection and confirmation of liquid flow. The flow body houses a diaphragm responsive to flow rate. A connected rod and lever mechanism triggers a micro switch at a manually adjustable set point. An optiional light, either neon (VAC) or LED (VDC), can indicate operation. Compatible liquids must be non-corrosive to the brass and copper alloy wetted parts and NBR or optional FKM diaphram. Wiring method can be normally open or closed with a range of voltages. A terminal box and CE compliance are also optional.

    • Paddle Switch
    • IF3 is a mechanical switch for the detection and confirmation of liquid flow. The device threads into a flow path, where the liquid pushes against the paddle. This actuation triggers a micro switch at a manually adjustable set point. Short, medium and long paddles are provided with each model. Paddle size to install will be determined by the pipe size and flow rate. Options include IP42 or IP44 rated enclosures, and either brass / bronze or 304 stainless steel wetted parts. Compatible fluids must be non-corrosive to these materials. Wiring method can be normally open or closed with a range of voltages. CE compliance is also optional.

    • Flow Controller for Water
    • FC2W is a flow controller for water between 0-50°C. A motor driven adjustable flow restriction works together with feedback from a Karman vortex flow sensor to respond to an analog input signal establishing the flow rate. When a single water supply source is divided into multiple lines, the flow rate between lines can be inconsistent. FC2W controllers can adjust flow on each line to a constant rate. FC2W does not include a flow shutoff feature. Pair the controller with a VXZ 2-port soleoid valve to stop flow for any reason. The device includes an error status LED. This is a grease-free product.

  • 5) Auto Switches

  • SMC offers a variety of auto switches for actuators and air grippers. Reed and solid state switches are available in a general purpose type or with 2-color indication, which allows the optimum operating position to be determined by the color of the light. Solid state switches are also available in 2-color indication with diagnostic output, water resistant 2-color indication, built-in OFF-delay timer (200 ms), magnetic field resistant, heat resistant and wide range detection configurations. Various lead wire lengths are available.

    • Reed and Solid State
    • SMC offers a variety of auto switches for actuators and air grippers. Reed and solid state switches are available in a general purpose type or with 2-color indication, which allows the optimum operating position to be determined by the color of the light. Solid state switches are also available in 2-color indication with diagnostic output, water resistant 2-color indication, built-in OFF-delay timer (200 ms), magnetic field resistant, heat resistant and wide range detection configurations. Various lead wire lengths are available.

    • Trimmer Switch
    • Trimmer auto switches can detect various size work pieces by the difference of more than 0.5mm. The sensor enclosure is rated IP67 and the amplifier is IP40. Trimmer switches are available in direct or rail mounting styles. The sensor and amplifier can be connected without restriction through the use of an e-con connector.

    • Hygienic
    • SMC's hygienic auto switches were designed to work in areas where the cylinder surface is washed. Rail mounting allows a freely adjustable mounting position, including intermediate positions. These switches are designed with as many curves as possible and no recessed areas leaving extremely small amounts of residual cleaning solvent. D-F6 auto switches have a stainless steel case and set screw.

    • Actuator Position Sensor
    • Actuator stroke position sensor is an analog output over the entire length of the stroke. The D-MP is available in 4 measurement ranges. Unit is IO-Link compatible.

  • 6) Electronic Regulators

  • Electro pneumatic air regulators control air/vacuum pressure steplessly in proportion to an electric signal. They are light weight in design with a bright and easy to read LED display. The monitor output is available either as analog output or switch output.
